Hunger Task Force
Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s leading anti-hunger organization. We were founded in 1974 by a group of parent advocates who were fighting for a school breakfast program in Milwaukee Public Schools. In the early 1980s, this group formed Milwaukee’s first food bank: Hunger Task Force. Today, Hunger Task Force provides a safety net of emergency food to a network of local food pantries and meal programs. We are the only food bank in Milwaukee that does not charge for food, delivery or network membership. Staying true to our roots, we continue to advocate for social policies and strong nutrition programs that fight future hunger. Our core values are justice, compassion, stewardship and dignity. Our goal and mission is to end hunger in our community and state.
Mission: HUNGER TASK FORCE BELIEVES THAT EVERY PERSON HAS A RIGHT TO ADEQUATE FOOD OBTAINED WITH DIGNITY. WE WORK TO PREVENT HUNGER AND MALNUTRITION BY PROVIDING FOOD TO PEOPLE IN NEED TODAY AND BY PROMOTING SOCIAL POLICIES TO ACHIEVE A HUNGER FREE COMMUNITY TOMORROW.
